History
Auriculas (commonly Primula auricula), known as “bear’s ears,” are Alpine hybrids brought to England by Huguenot refugees in the late 16th century. The plant was established in England by 1597 when it appeared in John Gerard’s Herbal. Revered by florists, they became popular “florists’ flowers” in the 18th/19th centuries, famously displayed in tiered wooden display stages known as “theatres”. They are as popular as ever bred and displayed in shows by various Auricula Societies across the country.
Auricula pot plants are approximately 8” tall, with a 4” pot.
