An exciting event in 2019 when I exhibited my work and collaborated on a room installation with Kathryn Wakefield of The French House, a showroom housing a fascinating collection of French Antiques on the edge of York. The room included my own work, antiques from the French House, and work by other artists including Shirley Vauvelle, Hannah Nunn and Erica Just.
First established in 1997 on Micklegate in York, The French House has showrooms in Huntington, York and South West London, boasting a large range of authentic French antiques ranging from the 17th to 20th Century. Kathryn Wakefield has many years experience as co-owner of The French House, sourcing unique furnishings and accessories from frequent trips to France, visiting house clearances, brocantes and working with local sources to find the beautiful and the unusual.
Artist Corinne Young has trained in Textile Design and Interior Design & Decoration, as well as working in a high end interiors store. Kathryn and Corinne are inspired by travels to France and the colours of the French countryside at the end of a long hot summer – mists, fruit and ripening seed heads.
